JSB Restored A Study of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion’s arrival on our shores, its 19th century reception in England, and its place in our lives today set in the wider context of Bach in the 20th and 21st centuries. Each will share the fruits of their researches, there will be music and the day will enable us to gain insight into the evolution of our own Bachian musical history in the UK

Dr. Katharine Pardee (Wadham College Oxford) – 19th Century Reception in England
14.00 - 15.30
Dr. Bettina Varwig (King’s London) – Bach in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Top of the Bill is the world première of a brand new work especially composed for the Bach Club by rising star Robert Peate. The London Bach Society has commissioned the work.
Title: “Wie wunderbarlich…”. It is inspired by Bach’s St. Matthew Passion
