The English Concert Master Class 2012

Four aspiring harpsichordists will work with The English Concert, their artistic director Harry Bicket and two solo singers in directing a range of Baroque repertoire. Visitors cannot take part but are welcome to watch and purchase tickets for the concert.
Dressing for the Pleasure Gardens

This talk will focus on the key styles worn during each of the Pleasure Gardens eras, primarily those of Pepys’, Hogarth’s, Austen and Whistler’s day. The exhibition will be open for the duration of the evening.
Balloons and Bombshells - The Science Behind the Spectacle of Vauxhall Gardens

From lighting to fireworks to balloon voyages and extravagant theatre sets, science was used, displayed, and practiced at Vauxhall Gardens, creating a wonderland of spectacle. This draws on contemporary reports and images to explore science's long association with the Gardens and their celebrated visitors.
Handel: Fireworks and Frolics by The Amadè Players

Celebrating Vauxhall Gardens, this concert will include Handel’s famous Music for the Royal Fireworks, originally performed at Vauxhall Gardens in 1749 to celebrate the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, and repeated four weeks later at the Foundling Hospital.
