24th Annual Conference on Music in 18th Century Britain

£14 in advance, £15 on the day

10am – 5pm

This annual study day will include papers on a variety of subjects related to eighteenth century music and culture in Britain. This study day will be followed by an evening concert Handel at the Playhouse for which delegates will receive a discount. 30th Annual Conference on Book Trade History

£80 for both days, £50 for one day

Saturday 9.30am – 7.30pm, Sunday 10am – 5.15pm

 

This year’s annual conference will explore the advertising and promotion of print from the 15th century. Presentation subjects will include ’Trade Advertisements for Books Printed before 1501’, ‘Advertising in Print & Print in Advertising around 1700’ and ‘Buying & Selling Rare Books Online’.

The fee includes conference, lunches, an evening reception on Saturday and access to the Foundling Museum. A limited number of reduced-rate places, sponsored by the Bibliographical Society, will be available to registered students.

Letting the brush do the work

Youth event

Saturday 13 December

Free, booking is necessary

11am – 2pm

This activity session will be run by artist John Kindness for young people and is particularly aimed at students studying AS level and A-level Art.  John will take the group on a tour of his exhibition An English Interior talking about the origins of the work and the techniques used to make it.  He will then run a hands-on painting workshop showing a variety of brush techniques and adaptations including the multiple brush, compass brush and the striped-paint brush.
