PLAY AT THE FOUNDLING!

LONDON COMMUNITY BAROQUE ORCHESTRA

We are pleased to announce the formation of the new London Baroque Community Orchestra (LCBO) based at the Foundling Museum.  Founded and directed by music director and scholar Dr Zak Ozmo, the orchestra will provide training in historical performance practice to its members and will present regular high-level musical performances.

LCBO will offer a fun and educational environment in which participants can explore Baroque music along with other interested musicians, and work on musical repertoire consisting of both much-loved masterpieces and new discoveries (including those contained in the Foundling's Gerald Coke Handel Collection).

The orchestra will be coached and musically supported by members of period-instrument ensemble L’Avventura London, in addition to other prominent guest artists.  LCBO membership will be open to competent amateurs, students and young professionals pending an audition and will be subject to a nominal membership fee.

Taster workshop will take place on November 27, 10.30-12.30 at the Picture Gallery of the Foundling Museum.

Auditions will take place in January 2011, when the first rehearsals will also commence.

For further information please watch this page!

For any immediate questions, please contact Zak Ozmo atzozmo@lavventuralondon.co.uk

ENSEMBLE IN ASSOCIATION The creation of the London Community Baroque Orchestra will coincide with the appointment of period-instrument ensemble L’Avventura London as Ensemble in Association beginning in 2011. L’Avventura’s unique combination of brilliant musicianship and cutting-edge musicology will augment the musical activities of the Foundling Museum, which has been an important London concert venue since the Foundling Hospital opened in the eighteenth century. The ensemble will present a minimum of two musical performances per year, in addition to organizing open lectures and workshops in historical performance practice and supporting the London Community Baroque Orchestra.
